Over the course of my life, while investing in and working in 6 different industries, I catalogued every single management activity I did and challenge I experienced. I then broke those down into categories to come up with a comprehensive algorithm to follow that ensures I leave no stone unturned in any of my endeavors.
The algorithm integrates spiritual, intentional, analytical, and practical elements into a comprehensive process. Here’s a breakdown of each step within this context:
This step involves seeking guidance, wisdom, and support beyond oneself, typically from a higher power or through a spiritual practice. It sets a foundational tone for humility and openness, recognizing the importance of external influences and blessings in the success of any endeavor.
At this stage, you clarify what you aim to achieve. This involves defining clear, purposeful objectives that align with your values and aspirations. Intention setting is about focusing your energy and resources towards a specific outcome, serving as a guiding light for the subsequent steps.
Here, you gather information and insights relevant to your intention. This process is solely about discovering what is True. This includes understanding the environment in which you operate, identifying opportunities and challenges, and learning from the experiences of others. Research is critical for informed decision-making and strategy development.
In this phase, you develop a broad approach or method for achieving your intentions, informed by your research. Strategizing involves considering yourself, your organization, the environment, various paths, competitors and their reactions, weighing options, and selecting the most effective way forward, keeping in mind the larger picture and long-term implications.
Once you have picked a direction and made a strategy, Planning translates your strategy into a detailed action plan. This involves outlining specific steps, timelines, resource allocations, and responsibilities. It’s about organizing the how, who, when, and what of your strategy to ensure clarity and preparedness for execution.
This step involves making all necessary arrangements and ensuring that resources, teams, and individuals are ready to implement the plan. Preparation is about setting the stage for action by organizing the environment, securing the tools and materials needed, and ensuring all participants are informed and equipped to play their roles effectively.
Execution is the active implementation of your plan. It’s where strategies and plans are put into action. This phase requires discipline, adaptability, and effective management of resources to navigate real-world challenges and work towards achieving the set intentions.
After execution, you assess the outcomes against your original intentions and objectives. Evaluation involves analyzing what worked, what didn’t, and why. This step is crucial for learning from experience and measuring the effectiveness of your strategy and execution.
Based on the insights gained from the evaluation, you make necessary adjustments to your approach, strategies, and plans. Adaptation is about being responsive to feedback and changing circumstances, allowing for continuous improvement and agility in pursuit of your goals.
The Repeat step emphasizes the cyclical nature of the Management Spiral, recognizing that management is not a linear process but one of continual refinement and iteration. After completing all steps—from Prayer to Adaptation—the process starts anew, incorporating the lessons learned and the evolving conditions of the environment. Repeating the cycle enables sustained progress, long-term success, and adaptability. It ensures that every outcome, whether successful or not, becomes part of the ongoing journey toward improvement. This step highlights the importance of perseverance, resilience, and commitment to continuous learning, ensuring that management efforts remain dynamic and responsive.
In sum, this definition of Management outlines a thoughtful and structured process that integrates spiritual grounding with strategic and operational rigor, emphasizing continuous learning and adaptation.
